The Peacock

This was my first fashion show and although I had black cartoon eyebrows, and cotton balls in my hair, I must say it was one of the best experiences of my life. The show only lasted about ten minutes in all with 5 hours of prep, but it was thrilling. It's become another step in my discovering the world, or as most put it "growing up."

Is This You?

I've discovered the world of drawing and it's intimidating, yet fascinating. It's time for me to illustrate my dreams. (model: Ashton F.)

Without Civilization...

"Without civilization, we would not turn into animals, but vegetables."-- Mason Cooley

Civilization is the order of man and order cannot be kept without it. But civilization develops man into an intellectual, by shaping his mind. That is why, without civilization we would be vegetables--never moving forward and remaining stagnant.

Nature

"Nature hath framed strange fellows in her time." -William Shakespeare

I believe Shakespeare meant that women perceive the world in strange ways after aging.

Naturally, strange things appear over time, developing new views. After we gain new knowledge, we gain a new perspective of the world and all it holds in it.

To the top of the world

"A man must rise above the Earth to the top of the atmosphere and beyond, for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives."-- Socrates

In order to get a proper perspective of your life, you must step away from it all.  Try to see from someone else's point of view, it will broaden your horizons and open the doors to understanding. You must consider your effect, in order to see the real world.

Imagine

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand." - Albert Einstein

Change is inevitable. Life is full of change and whether you like it or not, YOU change each and every day, week, month, and year. Everyone develops into a different person, but some minds remain stagnant on certain subjects. Those people hold knowledge, but lack imagination.

It is common for one person to accuse another to be ignorant if they do not understand something, but it could easily be for lack of imagination. Think about it: if someone cannot imagine, they cannot envision and therefore may not understand

Goal of my life:
Create a world of knowledge through imagination.

Behind the Curtains

This is a true and embarrassing story. It has yet to fail in making me blush and cause the pitch of my voice to rise each time I tell it.

These events transpired on November 27, 2010:

For our fall show, my high school put on a performance of "Our Town," written by Thorton Wilder and produce by Janet Fischer Collum. For those of whom are unfamiliar, it is a college level play. We did, and I say this with complete modesty, a fantastic job! We did a performance each on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening, receiving fantastic reviews.
Each night we were given more encouragement, but naturally we all had stage fright. Before each performance I and my friend, Ryan, were equally nervous, and so we would hug each other before the play began. Ryan had more reason to be nervous than I, since he had pages and pages of lines (he was the Stage Manager where I was Mrs. Gibbs).

Before our third performance (Saturday night), Ryan and I hugged each other, but this time was different. We hugged, then looked at each other, and before my next breath, we were kissing! Only he, I, and one other girl were on that side of the curtain and she was practically in between us. Once the kiss was over, Ryan said, "Wow, did that just happen?" Then Shanena (the other girl) said, "You only see that kind of thing in movies!" and proceeded to giggle. I was flabbergasted, therefore I had no vocabulary or sense of reality.
The lights went out in the audience almost immediately, signaling Ryan to go onstage and the play began.
I somehow regained my composure and went on shortly after him, but once I came to my line that says, "Myrtle Webb, I have GOT to tell you something or I'll just burst!" and I wanted to follow it with, "I kissed Ryan!!!!" Thankfully, I had rehearsed enough that my right lines fell out of my mouth instead.
Once backstage again, I had to avoid Ryan so we could focus on the play, but along came intermission....
"So I guess now you know I like you," Ryan said after we stepped away from everyone else.
"Yeah," I had yet to recall my vocabulary.
He shifted his weight from one foot to the next and said, "I don't know if the feeling is reciprocated, but I want you to be my girlfriend."

He and I have been dating for a month and a half, so far. :)
